The Piano Nyman and Glass at the Movies

City Halls : Grand Hall

In recent years two of our foremost ‘classical’ composers Nyman and Glass have also made their global reputations as film composers. Out of the film music has come a body of piano music that crosses the boundaries to be hugely popular and enjoyable. Glass and Nyman created two of the most popular piano soundtracks of all time and have become concert works in their own rights. Michael Nyman’s The Piano Concerto and Philip Glass’s music to The Hours make a striking pair of centrepieces – hear them both here with the brilliant Alasdair Beatson as soloist.

Please note that Nyman and Glass are not appearing. Their works will be performed by soloist Alasdair Beatson on piano with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
