Young American violinist Stefan Jackiw, here making his BBC SSO debut, performs Mozart’s popular Third Violin Concerto, one of five violin concertos composed by Mozart when he was just 19. Mendelssohn’s Fourth Symphony celebrates the sounds and colours of Italy, and GĂ©rard Korsten, Music Director of the London Mozart Players, completes the programme with two well-known overtures by Rossini and Schubert.
