Minimal is part of the Glasgow Music 2011/2012 Season

To mark Bang on a Can’s return to Scotland for Glasgow Concert Halls’ Minimal: Extreme, the Scottish Music Centre launched a unique project, a Composition Marathon inspired by the organisation’s iconic performance festivals.

Ten Scottish composers, as selected by Oliver Searle, Anna Meredith and Josh Armstrong, will collaborate with one of five Scottish chamber ensembles who will perform the resulting works in the Old Fruitmarket. They are: Daniel’s Beard, Ensemble Thing, Peter Gregson with Keith Beattie, and Live Music Now’s Flercussion and Pure Brass.

The Scottish Music Centre Composition Marathon presents a unique platform for composers, performers and audiences to experience and enjoy the latest, cutting-edge contemporary classical music of Scotland.
