The Piano Richard Goode in Recital

Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.

In the 1820s in Vienna, two of the greatest composers who ever lived wrote their last three sonatas for the instrument they loved best and understood most intimately – the piano. Both Schubert and Beethoven wrote a trilogy of sonatas and these are the pieces that must be heard together to unlock their full meaning: as you listen, echoes, correspondences, references, architectural balances and shifts of mood, light and pace deepen their meaning and poetry. And, by hearing the Beethoven cycle one week then the Schubert the next, the wealth of musical insight and experience is multiplied many times. Schubert revered Beethoven, but although these musicians were writing this music in the same city in the same decade, musically they were worlds apart.

Each cycle is a unique musical journey and we are privileged to present two of the greatest living pianists, Richard Goode (18th Nov) and Elisabeth Leonskaja (25th Nov), to take us with them on it.

Richard Goode stands among the very greatest living Beethoven pianists. His recordings are legend, his live performances thrilling. A truly profound and rare experience.
