Since its inaugural project in October 2002, the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra has established an international reputation for innovative improvised music.
Featuring around twenty musicians from an array of artistic backgrounds including free improvisation, experimental, jazz, classical, pop, folk and performance art, the ensemble has collaborated with a slew of world renowned improvisers to critical acclaim.
Their exploration of improvisation in a large group context has let them to experiment with graphic notation, text scores and conducting techniques, and they bring their exciting new sound to City Halls this September as part of sound lab – a new series of concerts in the Recital Room featuring improvised and experimental music.
