Portrait of the Composer

Portrait of the Composer is a series of extended concerts which will throw light on the lives and works of great composers, and offer world class performances of their work. In our first season we will feature Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Brahms and Dillon.
You can immerse yourself in the music and, if you would like to, you can also attend the talks beforehand to discover more about the story behind the notes.
Why did Bach’s music change when he moved to the court of Cöthen? What was it about Mozart’s music that his contemporaries found so difficult? What happened when Chopin came to Glasgow? What biographical stories did Brahms conceal in his music? And what lies behind Scottish composer James Dillon’s immense collection, 9 Rivers, receiving its world première here?
Find out when you join Glasgow’s Concert Halls in taking a closer look at the Portrait of the Composer.
