About Old Fruitmarket
Prepare to be caught under the spell of the Old Fruitmarket as soon as you walk through its doors! Hidden from view in the city's cultural Merchant City next to our very own City Halls, it forms part of Glasgow's Centre for Music.
Our entrancing venue has kept all of its period charm, including its lofty vaulted roof (now much more watertight than back in the Victorian era!) cast iron columns and balcony. As its name suggests, this was once where you'd be more likely to find stalls of fruit and vegetables on offer than entertainment!
A gloriously evocative location
Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie, BBC Radio 2
Expect the unexpected, as this hugely versatile venue has already played host to theatre events, jazz concerts, comedy, rock, pop and world music gigs as well as club nights, ceilidhs, fashion shows and banquets. One thing for sure is that an amazing atmosphere is guaranteed.
The Fruitmarket was perfect for the launch. It's a brilliant venue, it has so much character about it and it's such a lovely building.
KT Tunstall, (quoted in the Courier)
As one of the city's most loved performance spaces, it really has to be seen to be believed and is certain to capture your attention!
