Old Fruitmarket
The Old Fruitmarket could have been designed to house events and parties rather than store bananas and oranges as it did up until the 1960s. Prepare to be caught under the spell of this hugely versatile and atmospheric venue as soon as you walk through its doors. Hidden from view in the city's cultural Merchant City in the same complex as City Halls, this entrancing venue has kept all of its period charm, including the lofty vaulted roof, cast iron columns and balcony. The slender Victorian architecture gives a visually dramatic setting for award ceremonies or banquets.
Over the years we've hosted prestigious product launches (including the launch of the Jaguar XJ6) the Commonwealth Games 2014 bid announcement, awards ceremonies and trade fairs as well as theatre events, banquets, club nights, ceilidhs, fashion shows and weddings.. If you are organising an event that requires a venue that is out of the ordinary then look no further than the spectacular Old Fruitmarket.
The Old Fruitmarket won the title of "Best Large Unusual Venue, Primary Purpose Hospitality" at the Scottish Event Awards 2008.
The adjacent venue, City Halls, is the perfect setting for more formal awards ceremonies or presentations before heading through to the Old Fruitmarket where your guests can let their hair down at your post-awards banquet or party.
