Old Fruitmarket

Located next door to City Halls, in the heart of the Merchant City, the Old Fruitmarket is possibly one of the most loved "gig" spaces in Glasgow. The charms of this converted Fruitmarket are abundant, with its lofty vaulted roof, cast iron columns and balcony, and of course the original traders' signs, which all combine to give the Old Fruitmarket its truly unique atmosphere.

The Old Fruitmarket is also chameleon-like in its ability to adapt to suit every genre of performance. It seamlessly switches from being a funky venue for club nights (Hogmanay '06, '07 and '08 with Optimo) to an atmospheric venue for theatre (National Theatre for Scotland's production of Blackwatch), a swingin' venue for jazz gigs (example) to a refined venue for classical concerts (BBC SSO with Steve Martland Band), an intimate venue for folk nights (Capercaillie, Lunasa and many, many more) to the coolest venue in town for pop and rock shows (KT Tunstall, Kelly Jones, Teenage Fanclub, James Morrison, Amy Macdonald) making it truly Glasgow's most versatile venue.

The Old Fruitmarket has a full sound and lighting rig available, allowing your concert to be amplified and lit as appropriate, to create the atmosphere that is right for you.

Backstage, the Old Fruitmarket has a Green Room which is suitable for up to 12 people. This room has seating, a table, fridge and microwave. A further five mid-sized dressing rooms (approx 18 people in each), as well as two additional smaller dressing rooms (suitable for 2 people in each), can also be made available depending on other events taking place in the Grand Hall of the City Halls.
