A Time There Was
It is a wonderful mystery of chamber music that a few musicians can cast a spell over an audience as powerfully as any vast orchestra – perhaps more so, since the relationship between listener and performer seems so intimate and close-up.
Glasgow’s Concert Halls in partnership with BBC Radio 3 dedicates a series of Sunday afternoon chamber music concerts in the City Halls, leading off with A Time There Was... four concerts which look back to the golden years of English composition before and between the wars. Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Finzi are among the featured composers.
